2022 Leagues Under the Sea
What happens when a fictional megacorp’s secret underwater research facility is discovered, complete with life support, plant rooms, laboratories, a humongous oil rig and… a dancefloor?
2022 Leagues Under the Sea is the theme for 2022’s Null Sector at the Electromagnetic Field camp, held in Eastnor every two years. A pop-up club for just a few days in the summer, the Null Sector merges a covered dancefloor with interactive installations and demonstrations of science and technology.
My role consisted of supporting sound design and special effects for the “oil rig” at the entrance and for each of the installation rooms. Truly an aging underwater facility, metallic creaks and scraping underscore test tubes bubbling, radar woops, marine life, the sounds of industrial machinery and more.
